Stop the Texts. Stop the wrecks

Stop the Texts. Stop the wrecks is a mission to help us understand the hazards of using SMS while driving or doing anything else that needs attention.

Get the facts & discover tips on how to avoid texting while driving.

Fact #1:
Five seconds is the average time your eyes are off the road while texting. When traveling at 55mph, that's enough time to cover the length of a football field. (2009, VTTI)
Fact # 2:
A texting driver is 23 times more likely to get into an accident than a non-texting driver. (2009, VTTI)
Fact # 3:
Of those killed in distracted-driving-related crashed, 995 involved reports of a cell phone as a distraction (18% of fatalities in distraction-related crashes). (NHTSA)

Tips to stop:
-Out of sight, out of mind.
-Silence is golden.
-Find your app.
-Designate a texter.

Existence

We do not ask to be born; and we do not ask to die. But born we are and die we must. We come into existence and we pass out of existence. And in neither case does high-handed fate await our ratification of its decree

The trial of God...See who won...

I pay homage to Christopher Hitchens, one of the few who freethinkers left in the world, died of pneumonia this Thursday. He was diagnosed with oesophagal cancer last year.

The author of 'God Is Not Great', was listed by Forbes magazine as one of the "25 most influential liberals in the U.S. media".

It is a huge loss for the literary world.
Won't disrespect him by saying something like 'God blessing his soul'. He did his best when he was alive and we will always remember him for the personality he was. He still lives in our hearts and minds.

Christopher, we will really miss you and your talks.

The “Corna”

Consisting of a clenched fist with the second and fifth fingers straightened out, the corna (‘horns’) hand gesture has most recently been adopted by fans of rock and heavy metal music, first used by Black Sabbath vocalist Ronnie James Dio. The gesture carries only a vague meaning, implying the presence of Satan, malevolence and loud guitar music, and is used in much the same way as headbanging. The gesture was actually popularized as a Satanic salute during the 1960s, appearing in many editions of the Satanic Bible. Nowadays many Americans use the gesture simply to mean “rock on”, or in support of the University of Texas in Austin (known as the “Hook ‘em Horns”).

Occasionally used by baseball players to indicate “two outs”, the corna is actually a positive hand gesture in Buddhism and Hinduism, known as the Karana Mudra in such circles, and is used to dispel evil – an interestingly opposite meaning to its contemporary significance.

Does one want to take it as a 'symbol of Devil' or 'a symbol that protects from the evil', remains a personal choice. So chose whichever you feel comfortable about. My job here is to reveal some hidden or not very commonly known points. Whatever one believes in, remains a personal choice.
